Well, I got mails every week – minimum 1-2 that those uprising shoemaker collagues are searching for tools to start the craft. You can also search ebay to find the right ones, but I never seen a really good combination of tools, what would be good to start practicing this art. Here we go – I have a tool makers (two – but non of them are so fast to tell the truth), and demand. Let’s help those guys!

The starting kit contains:

5. 1  feather knife

7. 1 edge cutter

9. 1 shoemaker’s rasp

All tools are handmade and are exact copy of old tools I use in my workhop.

As I put the bar quite high, his compliment is not said so often in my workshop. This time my apprentice Dani finished her shoes, and I couldn’t resist to tell her some compliments, since these being her first pair of shoes the result is really nice. I just gave her minimal help, and she made the pattern all by herself, as well as all the steps of the English welted construction.

And the design process – first step, making the mean form. I can tell you something about it:

a.) Finding the appropriate and comfortable shape on the men last is difficult. Trust me on that – I make it every day. On the women’s boots you have to follow the shape for the leg too. Even bigger challenge.

b.) ..but which man wouldn’t want to work with a beautiful woman’s feet?

This is a very special pair of shoes. I cannot tell you the reason yet. That info will come exactly on 20th of November.

Today Seiji learned the famous spinning stitch. He took the spinning literally. See these pics.

He wasn’t happy, that I made these pictures. But I was happy making them.

This post (what a surprise!) will be about pictures – more than text.

So, the first story – this is a bespoke order for a US based gentleman. He was very specific about all the details. I must tell you: I love these orders. It means that this person has demands, so I have a challenge. These photos show the making process. Very soon I will post the ones about the final shoes.

I have 4 students in my workshop at the moment. Here is one of them, whom I can call my friend: Craig Corvin. As he couldn’t spend too much time he asked me to show him something, what he can make in this short time. So, I have chosen to teach him a seamless wholecut. Here is he, with his new technique:

And something else: the blake stitch. Not the simple one, but the Bologna version. Extremely lightweight and flexibile, so it is OK for some type of shoes. More details soon..

And finally a new ready pair. I really consider that I will put it to the RTW line with some modifications. Looks adorable, doesn’t it?
